Wheat Kings Drop First of Season in Saskatoon
September 29, 2024 - The effort that carried the Wheat Kings through the battle with the Prince Albert Raiders wasn't at the same level against the Saskatoon Blades, and the team paid for it. Luke Shipley, Roger McQueen, and Marcus Nguyen scored, but the Wheat Kings dropped a 4-3 game to the Saskatoon Blades. Carson Bjarnason stopped 34 shots in his first appearance of the season. Unlike the first period in Prince Albert that went back and forth, the Wheat Kings had to weather something of a storm from the Blades in the opening 20 minutes.... Wheat Kings Trade Roersma to Edmonton
September 29, 2024 - The Wheat Kings have traded overage forward Rylen Roersma to the Edmonton Oil Kings for a 2nd round pick in the 2026 WHL Draft and a 5th round pick in the 2027 WHL Draft. A former first round pick in 2019 WHL Draft by the Wheat Kings, Rylen has suited up for the Wheat Kings in 215 Regular Season games as well as 10 playoff games over the last 5 seasons. September 28, 2024 - Again the Wheat Kings had their best period in the third period, this time in a road game against the Prince Albert Raiders. But the periods leading up to that were the wildest, roughest hockey of the season. Marcus Nguyen scored twice, and Ethan Eskit stopped 32 of 33 shots he faced in a 4-1 Wheat Kings win. September 28, 2024 - Brandon MB - The Philadelphia Flyers have re-assigned 19-year-old goaltender Carson Bjarnason to the Brandon Wheat Kings. Carson was drafted by the Flyers in the 2nd round of the 2023 NHL draft, 51st overall. He was signed by the Flyers last season.
